BREAKING:
The communist Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Flávio Dino has reinstated Andrei Rodrigues as head of Brazil’s Federal Police.
This means that he has reversed his fellow justice André Mendonça's order from a few days ago.
Flávio Dino was handpicked up Lula to first become the Minister of Justice and later sent straight to the Supreme Court.
Dino’s actions are widely seen as protecting fellow justice Alexandre de Moraes and his ally President Lula.
The conflict escalated when Justice André Mendonça disclosed a report raising questions about improper contacts between Justice Alexandre de Moraes and a banker. This banker is accused of leading a multibillion-dollar fraud scheme related to the collapse of Banco Master. The disclosure of this connection quickly prompted widespread calls for an official investigation into Moraes.
In response to Mendonça's disclosure, Moraes sought an investigation against Mendonça for "abuse of authority". To back his claims, Moraes utilized internal Federal Police intelligence reports tracking Mendonça's activities. Mendonça fiercely challenged these dossiers, calling them illegal, unauthorized spying on a sitting Supreme Court justice by the leadership of the Federal Police.
Arguing that the leadership of the police was actively producing illegal intelligence to target magistrates, Mendonça ordered the preventive suspension of PF Director-General Andrei Rodrigues and Intelligence Chief Leandro Almada.
Dino's swift reversal of Mendonça's orders blunted Mendonça's attempts to launch deep criminal and disciplinary investigations into how the Federal Police compiled the reports that Moraes used.
Both Moraes and the broader network surrounding the Banco Master investigation from are now protected from judicial oversight.
Moreas, Flávio and Lula are all desperately trying to survive the Brazilian presidential election in October.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian public is becoming increasingly frustrated with how de Moraes and other Supreme Court justices are trying to cover up the Banco Master scandal in which billions of dollars were lost and stolen.
