Flávio Bolsonaro’s jet trip revives questions over his earlier denial
The dispute turns on what Flávio Bolsonaro knew about a private jet’s ownership: reporting emphasizes that the aircraft had a connection to Daniel Vorcaro, while Bolsonaro and Willer Tomaz say the trip was arranged through Tomaz’s stake and without knowledge of Vorcaro’s involvement.
Flávio Bolsonaro is facing renewed scrutiny over a January 2025 flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Brasília after reports identified the Legacy 650 aircraft as partly owned by a company linked to former Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro.1
The sharpest contrast is with Bolsonaro’s public comments months later. At a July event, he said: “I have never set foot on Vorcaro’s plane,” while also insisting that his only connection to Vorcaro involved financing for Dark Horse, a film about his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.1 The report said Bolsonaro traveled with his wife, two daughters and lawyer-businessman Willer Tomaz on the January flight.
Bolsonaro’s response has not disputed that he was aboard the aircraft. Instead, he has argued that he regarded it as Tomaz’s plane, quipping: “Fortunately, at the time the plane was Willer’s. Imagine if it were now — I would have traveled on Alexandre de Moraes’s plane.”2 The same aircraft was later used by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, according to the reporting.2
Tomaz’s account supports Bolsonaro’s explanation in part. He said he held one-third of the company owning the jet, paid for the flight and only learned in April that Vorcaro had also acquired a stake through Prime You. He said he then ended his contract with the company and began a legal dispute, adding that he did not know Vorcaro or conduct business with him.2
The reporting nevertheless places Prime You’s ownership stake before the January trip, when Vorcaro was a partner in the company. It also notes that the flight took place during negotiations over Vorcaro’s financing of the Bolsonaro film, creating a context that critics see as difficult to reconcile with the senator’s earlier blanket denial.2 Bolsonaro’s position is narrower: he acknowledges the trip but denies knowing that the aircraft had a Vorcaro connection.
