Vorcaro Testimony Delayed as Defense Seeks Full Case Access
The defense frames the delay as necessary to ensure Daniel Vorcaro can respond after reviewing the full record, while investigators continue examining whether major transactions between Banco Master and BRB involved fraud or other irregularities.
Federal Police have postponed former banker Daniel Vorcaro’s scheduled testimony from September 15 to September 24, accepting a request from his defense team for additional time to review the investigation material.
The inquiry centers on the negotiation of R$12 billion in credit letters between Banco Master and Banco de Brasília (BRB). Investigators are examining whether those operations involved fraud and other possible irregularities. A previous hearing had also been rescheduled after internet-connection problems at the location where Vorcaro was being held, according to one account of the case.1
The defense’s position is not that it should be shielded from questioning, but that it needs certainty that it has received the complete case file before preparing Vorcaro to answer investigators. His lawyers said they could not confirm whether all documents and expert reports attached to the proceedings had been made available.
“Everything the defense asks for is access to what is already documented in the case files — main files, attachments, media, expert reports — and the minimum time to examine it,” the lawyers said.2
The two accounts converge on the reason for the postponement: a request by the defense over access to evidence. They differ mainly in emphasis. One presents the delay within the broader Banco Master investigation, including separate lines of inquiry and earlier scheduling disruptions. The other adds that Vorcaro was expected to face questions about alleged hiring of social-media profiles to attack the Central Bank.
For now, the rescheduling does not resolve the allegations under review. It sets a new date while preserving the defense’s demand for full access and the Federal Police investigation into the financial transactions.
