The Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) of the Senate approved the report on the proposal to end the 6x1 Scale.

Only four parliamentarians requested that their dissenting votes be registered:

  • Rogério Marinho (PL-RN);
  • Jaime Bagattoli (PL-RO);
  • Hamilton Mourão (Republicanos-RS);
  • Tereza Cristina (PP-MS).

Now, the bill approved by the CCJ will be forwarded for approval in the plenary, requiring at least 49 votes after two rounds of debates.

As the PEC was approved without any alterations, it will not need to be re-evaluated by the Chamber, being sent directly for presidential review.

Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB) announced a parallel PEC to try to reduce the economic impacts of the measure, which led Marinho to withdraw two amendments from the bill.

Project is in Alcolumbre's hands

It is up to the President of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), to decide when the debates will begin.

Parliamentarians against the bill are trying to outline strategies to postpone the vote until after the election period.

The agenda causes a tug-of-war between the government and the opposition

The leader of the opposition in the Senate, Rogério Marinho (PL-RE), said that he will present a preference request to prioritize his alternative proposal, according to which workers would be paid by the hour.

This project has had the support and articulation of Flávio Bolsonaro, despite avoiding direct criticism of the project to end the 6x1 scale.

In addition, there is also the possibility of requesting a review, more time to analyze the case, or even to empty the quorum needed to process the bill.

Meanwhile, the government has been pushing for the bill to be voted on before the elections, as many parliamentarians want to use it to gain visibility and secure votes.

Even Senator Omar Aziz, the rapporteur of the issue, is running for governor of Amazonas this year.

The government leader in the Senate, Teresa Leitão (PT-PE), said in an interview with G1 that the measure is not electoral, but it will have an important impact on this year's elections:

“*I don't think it's electoral, no… Now, one cannot deny that it has electoral effects because it is on everyone's lips... Of course, if it is approved, it will have an impact. But it can be the kind of thing we call in politics: it's a win-win. Everyone can win*.”
